Blu Ray is the high definition disc from Sony and so is supported in all
Sony equipment such as the Playstation 3 and their Blu Ray players.
The Blu Ray discs have the blue border on the cases and so look for this
if you are looking to buy Blu Ray discs. They also have a larger capacity
than the HD DVD and so if you are deciding on which one to go for then this
is important as more content can be fitted onto the disc meaning you will
likely get more for your money (assuming that the film makers use all of
the space available).
The Blu Ray players and discs do generally cost more though and so if you
are looking for the cheap option then Blu Ray may not be the best choice,
the prices are falling though for the Blu Ray players and discs and so they
become cheaper all of the time.
A Blu Ray player is so called because it uses a blue laser to read the discs
and the incredible HD quality. They use HDMI connections so that the best
quality connection is used to your HD television and so with a Blu Ray player
you are assured of a perfect picture quality.
The Playstation 3 can also play Blu Ray movies and this is a big bonus if
you own a PS3 as this means you do not have to buy a Blu Ray player. So if
you have a PS3 and a HD television you are all ready to watch some incredible
HD entertainment.
